A brief story of what you do and why you do it.

I create handmade jewelry. My specialty is bracelets, but I am hoping to expand my line. I love giving my customers custom designs that they trust me to create. Seeing the satisfaction from them is what I most love.

How did you get into jewelry design?

I got into this business by accident. I am creative by nature and just wanted to try something new. I started making gimp (plastic lace) bracelets for my mom. One of her friends saw it and showed it to a local boutique owner. The store began carrying my bracelets, and the line just took off.

What makes your collection unique?

My bracelets are trendy, yet versatile. I have pieces that are just fun as well as those that are more classic. I think my most unique feature is my age. Many people are surprised when they find out that I am only 13 years old.

What are your inspirations?

I want to continue to do well in school, go to college, and eventually have my own boutique or work with major designers.

How are you making a difference in your life?

I have been told by other kids that I have inspired them to look for ways that they can be entrepreneurs. I want to show them that they don't have to fit the stereotypes of so many kids today. I want them to feel good about the things they can accomplish if they put their minds to it and work hard.

What's something unusual about you that makes you “you”?

I am creative. I love creating things with my hands whether it be with pencil and paper, clay, fabric, or anything else that I can use to express myself creatively.

What's the biggest struggle in running your jewelry business like a business? OR What is your biggest success in running your business like a business?

The biggest struggle is keeping a balance between my business, school, and doing normal teen-age things. So far, I have managed very well. My biggest success is having my jewelry in two different retailers. People go to these places and ask for my jewelry by name!
