Tuesday Tip: End the Year Strong With Marketing That Matters
Are you ready to end the year strong, m’dear?
If that’s a HECK yes, then I am super excited to bring you one of my favorite things today: a masterclass recap.
Every year during the pre-holiday season that we’re in right now, I do a revamp of my hit masterclass End The Year Strong With Marketing That Matters.
It’s a community favorite, because the holiday season gets sooo hectic for jeweltry designers. The last few months of the year are the make-it-or-break-it months for most small businesses.
So, I want to give you a few ideas you can use to make the most of the holiday season. Even if you just take one of them and run with it, you’ll be in a good place.
Of course, we talked about each idea in-depth during the masterclass. If you want to watch the Masterclass Replay, we’ll have it on-demand for the next few weeks.
Catch it while you can, because it won’t be back until next year!
Until then, here’s a quick recap…
Lean Into What’s Working Now
For the last few years, Instagram Reels have been a very strong resource for small business owners. Video content has been king across all platforms, in general, since the rise of TikTok.
So if you want to get the most bang for your buck, I highly encourage you to start using video content in your marketing efforts and lean into this trending opportunity while it’s hot.
I know this is intimidating for camera-shy designers, but I promise it’s easier than you think.
I had an amazing conversation with Momentum student Claire Mannheimer earlier this year, who outlined her “lazy” Reels strategy that tripled her sales, doubled her email list, and earned her thousands of new Instagram followers.
I walk you through her strategy step-by-step in the Marketing That Matters Masterclass Replay.
Get in Front of Your Audience
As an independent business owner, you’re busy. Trust me, I get it.
Because we’re always juggling all the things, we only have so much time to focus on marketing. So, a lot of people miss some of the key strategies that will actually move the needle.
If you’re spending all of your time buried in social media, but you’re not prioritizing your owned marketing, you’re missing a huge opportunity.
Owned marketing, unlike social media, refers to the audience that belongs to you. I’m talking about your email marketing and SMS marketing list.
What I want you to work on right now is building your list and sending more marketing emails and SMS messages than you’re comfortable with.
It might sound scary, but it works.
During the Masterclass Replay, I share a case study from Karina Harris who replaced several hundred thousand dollars in revenue by emailing her list three times a week after she lost all of her shows during the pandemic.
Leverage Your Grassroots Network
If you're trying to build your list, spread the word about your business, and get more sales for the holiday season, do not underestimate the power of grassroots marketing.
Here’s how to start using grassroots marketing for your small business this holiday season, in a few simple steps:
- Make a list of as many people in your network you can think of.
- Create a simple DM, text message, or email template that you can cater to each individual person.
- Tell them what you’ve been up to, let them know you build your business on referrals, and ask if they know anyone who might appreciate my products on their holiday shopping list.
- Set aside a few hours to personalize and send these messages.
- Boom! Just like that, you’re leveraging the power of grassroots marketing.
Personalized outreach is so important, because people want to support you.
Listen to the full episode above for a few more tips for this holiday season. And don’t forget, the Masterclass Replay will only be available for a limited time!
