Episode #586: Why Curiosity Is Your Greatest Manifesting Superpower (and the Simple Askfirmation Practice That Changes Everything)
Stop Forcing Affirmations. Your Brain Has a Better Way.
There is something I have noticed in my own life and in the lives of the creative entrepreneurs I work with every single day: we are taught to fight our way into a new mindset. Repeat the affirmation. Say it like you mean it. Write it one hundred times. And then wonder why we feel more anxious, more stuck, and more disconnected than when we started.
What if the problem is not you? What if your brain is just doing exactly what it was designed to do?
In this special birthday episode, I pulled a teaching straight from inside the Creative Frequency, one of my most powerful programs, to share with you on the podcast. What Is an Askfirmation?
An Askfirmation is a question, not a statement. Instead of telling your brain I am wildly wealthy (and having your subconscious respond with, no you are not), you ask it: why is it so easy for me to build wealth? Why do opportunities keep opening up for me? How is it that my business keeps growing every single month?
The difference is neurological. When your brain receives a question it does not have an answer to, it goes looking for one. That search activates your Reticular Activating System, the part of your brain that filters what you pay attention to out of the thousands of bits of information coming at you every second. Your RAS begins scanning for evidence, patterns, and opportunities that are connected to the question you asked. It cannot help it. It is literally wired that way.
The Neuroscience Behind Why This Works
There are three layers to why curiosity beats forced affirmations every time, and I break all of them down in this episode.
First, curiosity lowers nervous system resistance. When you tell yourself something your subconscious does not believe is true yet, your body registers that as a threat. Pressure builds. Resistance shows up. You spiral into why is this not working instead of opening up to possibility. Curiosity bypasses that defense mechanism entirely, because you are exploring, not declaring.
Second, curiosity activates dopamine. Dopamine is the reward chemical, and it is tied to anticipation, motivation, and the pursuit of what you desire. When you operate from a place of curiosity rather than desperation, you energize the pursuit instead of depleting yourself emotionally trying to force something into being.
Third, curiosity shifts your identity without triggering resistance. Identity work is powerful, but it is also the place where most people hit a wall. Curiosity lets you step into a new version of yourself through the back door by asking what it would feel like to be there, rather than insisting you are already there before you believe it.
