#62 How to Pivot Your Jewelry Business Direction Practically and Patiently
There aren’t many things worse than feeling trapped, especially by your business.
Have you ever felt like your business is was dragging you down?
You’re not alone….
I was talking to one of our mastermind designers the other day. She was so relieved because she pivoted her business model this year.
After she closed down her retail store for a custom and wholesale business model, she was excited to finally be enjoying her summers.
I’ve been there too! And I know the feeling well.
I felt really STUCK! My wholesale business was weighing me down.
Switching directions didn’t seem like a possibility and kinda felt trapped.
I finally found hope and got the help I needed when I hired Phil, my consultant. He helped me dig deep into my business, get unstuck and restructure so I could feel energized by my business again.
On today’s episode I’m going to share with you what I learned about pivoting a jewelry biz with patience and practicality.
Because it literally changed my life and my business in an amazingly powerful way.
So, if you’re feeling like your business owns YOU instead of the other way around, you are going to love today’s episode.
Step 1: Think It Through
The most important foundational step to pivoting your jewelry biz well is to determine your end goal. You’ve got to know what you want to achieve before you take a single step in that direction.
Here’s what I suggest- sit down, take a step back and think what it is about your current business direction that you don’t like and why you want to change. And once you’ve got that clear, move on to the next step.
Step 2: Ask Yourself What You Really Love Doing
Equally as important to what you don’t love about your jewelry biz is what you Do love about it. Other than the obvious (jewelry!) what is your favorite part about working in your business.
It could to communicating with clients or creating systems or coming up with strategies. There is no wrong answer, but there is a correct answer for you personally. Figure out what it is and own it!
Step 3: Make a Plan to Pivot
Once you know where you’re starting and where you want to go, it’s time to make a solid plan for your pivot. For me, that looked like slowly closing down my wholesale business completely while ramping up my custom design business (equally as slow!)
For you, it might not be that dramatic of a change, but either way you’ll get halfway into it be lost without a plan. You’ve got to know the path before you take your first step toward your destination!
Okay…I’ve given you three steps leading up to pivoting your jewelry business.
I’ve got three more to share with you in the episode about how to actually carry out the pivot and reap the benefits from it.
But you’ve got to listen to hear them!
