It’s finally happening, m’dear. My book, The Desired Brand Effect, is launching on November 9th, 2021.

It’s been a passion project for me, because my mission is to help jewelry designers break through the barriers of the industry, build the business of their dreams, and avoid making the same mistakes I did along the way.

It was a defining failure in my life, because rebuilding is what led me to establish the successful jewelry brand I run today, found Flourish & Thrive Academy, and develop The Desired Brand Effect methodology that I teach and use in my own work life.

A 3-Year Process


I started the process of writing and publishing The Desired Brand Effect about three years ago.


My team and I started working on the first draft in 2019 with the goal to publish it that same year – but that is just not what the universe had in mind.


The deadline we set drew closer and closer, and the whole process began to feel rushed. I realized that it was more important to me to delay publication and put out something I could truly be proud of.


So, we delayed the deadline to spring of 2020. You can probably guess what happened next…


As the pandemic situation developed, students in my community started to panic, and I knew everything else needed to be put on hold. It was time to show up and serve my community in any way I could.


Before I knew it, the year was over and my book had been sitting on the back burner for months.


My team and I regrouped and we set another deadline for June 2021. But once again, the deadline inched closer and the project was far from finished.


Instead of putting out a rushed and unfinished version of what I knew The Desired Brand Effect could be, we delayed the launch date one final time to November 9th, 2021.


Now I truly understand why that was the right choice.


Vulnerability in Print


When I finished reading the final copy of The Desired Brand Effect I was in tears.


In the book, I get pretty vulnerable.


Here’s why… I wanted to share my story to paint an honest picture of what it’s like to be a business owner.


It’s not always like what you see on social media. There are ups and downs. You’ll make mistakes, you’ll get discouraged, and sometimes you’ll fail.


There are a lot of coaches out there, especially in the jewelry industry, who never talk about their hardships. I didn’t want my book to be like that. I wanted to be honest.


Failure is a part of business.


I could have set my company up better to withstand the 2008 recession, but there were also a lot of things out of my control. No matter what, it was going to be hard.


But I’m grateful for that experience, because it’s shaped the work I do today. It allowed me to grow and rebuild in a way I never would have imagined. 


Now, I have this incredible community of jewelry designers who are crushing their goals every day.


The story wouldn’t be complete if I omitted every vulnerable moment from the book.
